SHPOPL have successfully hosted deformity course from 2– 4 Jan. 2008 at Sun-n-Sand, Pune. The course have eminent faculties from three different countries namely, Dr. Dror Paley from USA, Dr. Klaus Siede from Germany and Dr. Odesski from Israel. Dr. Dror Paley was the Course Director and has been routine to Indian Orthopedic Surgeons through our courses to get their guidance from.

The course had two modules – 1st module covered the concept of deformity correction based on books published by Dr. Dror Paley & 2nd module covered the launch of hexapod system-a computerized deformity correction apparatus. Hexapod has been successfully launched in many countries and is a proprietary product of Litos, Germany. Dr. Siede and Dr. Odesski carried out training of Hexapod.

One complete day was focused on hand on workshop for deformity correction by using Hexapod. Dr. Mangal Parihar who has been trained on this system in Germany assisted this session. Total 140 Participants attended this course out of which 50 represented from eleven different countries namely Malaysia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Egypt, Slovenia etc.  All prominent Ilizarov Surgeons within the country attended this course and expressed satisfaction over clinical inputs of the course.

# SHPOPL conducts such course in memory of Late Shri H.D. Pitkar, who founded SHPOPL & was known and respected for his contribution to Orthopedic implant manufacturing in India in as early as 1960.
